Marrakech in 5 Days 2024 (my experience)

Dive into my 5-day Marrakech journey in 2024! Discover what makes it unforgettable

Hello everyone! Let me take you through my journey to Marrakech right after the earthquake in May 2024. I only had five days, but trust me, if you’re coming to Marrakech , that’s enough to get a taste of a this city. It took about 5 hours to travel between Casablanca and Marrakech, so let’s dive into where I stayed and what I did!

Where To Stay In Marrakesh

First up, where did I crash? Well, I stayed in a kasbah called kasbah alili. Is it good? Yep, especially if you’re with family, have kids, and aren’t looking for clubs and loud nights. It’s peaceful, though a bit far from the city. If you’ve rented a car, you’re set, or you might need to look into some tourist transport options.

For those who love a bit of pampering, I tried out the Palm Plaza Hôtel & Spa and Savoy Le Grand Hotel Marrakech. Honestly, any 5-star hotel in Marrakech is likely to impress you with great pools and services.

Things To Do In Marrakech

Every morning started with a real taste of Morocco. I enjoyed mesmen, a delicious, buttery flatbread. I loved dipping it in olive oil and enjoying it with some fresh mint tea. This breakfast wasn’t just food; it felt like a warm welcome into Moroccan culture each day. Sipping the tea and taking in the peaceful morning moments, I felt a deep connection to this beautiful place.

I’m not a fan of too much sun and heat, so I chilled at the kasbah till lunch. For lunch, I found this amazing place—Restaurant BLADNA. Great service, delicious food, and they’ve got space for kids to play. Highly recommend it!

Marrakech transforms as the sun sets. For me, it’s a city that comes alive at night. I spent many evenings wandering through Jamaa el Fna, where the vibes are always high and welcoming. As a woman, I felt very safe exploring Marrakech after dark, surrounded by joyful people and the soulful strains of traditional Gnawa music. The square is a spectacle of colors and sounds, with quirky sights like monkeys and snakes—perfect for a fun photo!

There was also this cool festival, “Bahja Music Festival,” with Moroccan singers and loads of vibrant vibes. If you’re there, don’t miss out on trying some local eats like “baolo” or tanjia and definitely get a fresh fruit drink. Only costs like 20 dh ( 2 USD)!

I tried the “koutchi marrakech” on day 2, which is a carriage ride—best done at night to see the city beautifully lit up.

I also visited Oasiria Marrakech, a club of pools that’s absolutely fantastic. I go there every time I’m in Marrakech. It has many types of pools, and it’s just a perfect place to chill and soak up the sun.

Wrapping Up

Marrakech is enchanting at night with its music and vibrant streets, quite different from the business vibe of Casablanca. People here are always smiling, which makes you feel right at home.

Oh, and here’s a heartwarming story I heard during one of my nights out in Marrakech: A well-known artist once dropped a bunch of money in the city. Luckily, an honest local found it and gave it back. To show his thanks, the artist painted a huge mural in Marrakech. The mural shows a smiling worker’s face. The artist, Hendrik Beikirch, said it’s meant to honor the working-class folks and all the people of Marrakech. It’s just a great example of how friendly and close-knit the community is here.
